you are stronger than your biggest excuse!

What are you allowing to hold you back from living your healthiest life?

What do you tell yourself every time you try to reach that goal again?

What's the excuse you've allowed to hold you back year after year?

Can you hear yourself in any of these:
  • I can't...
  • I start then quit...
  • I have no willpower...
  • I don't have the time...
  • I've had a hard day so I deserve a treat...
  • I can't afford to eat healthy...
  • I don't know what to eat...
  • It's my slow metabolism/autoimmune disease/genetics.

I've heard them all. Heck, I've said most of them. Do you know what they all are? BIG, FAT LIES!!!

It's time to realize the power within you to reach any goal you set for yourself. God put you on this earth to live an abundant, beautiful, joy-filled life. You deserve to have all your hopes and dreams come true! You deserve to feel amazing every day and live your healthiest life.

So what can you do when you find yourself saying these excuses? Let's look at what it takes to be successful.

A lot of people will come to see me when they have a special event that they want to look good for. They imagine themselves seeing an old friend and how they would feel standing in front of them with an extra 20 lbs. on from the last time they got together. Their dress is too tight. They feel embarrassed and uncomfortable. They want to hide.

Those are painful feelings we all want to avoid. We'd prefer to feel confident and beautiful and to get compliments on how amazing our outfit looks. We want to feel good when we post those pictures on social media.

It's not just about weight loss, however. We also want to feel pain-free! We want to dance at the wedding but the extra weight is putting too much pressure on our knees and it's so painful. Maybe we can't even breathe well enough to dance because of the extra pressure on our hearts. We have to say no when our kids want to play with us because our fatigue is overwhelming. We want to travel and see the world but our lack of health keeps us tied to our homes.

That's no way to live!

The potential pain is enough to get us to make some changes, make better food choices and hit the gym a few extra times each week. We make the lifestyle changes necessary to reverse the disease our bodies are dealing with. We do the hard work.

The reason we do this is that we have a big enough WHY to motivate us!

There is a huge difference between "I should probably lose some weight" and "I am so excited to look amazing in my bathing suit on the cruise with my husband next month!" Or, "I am determined to get off of this diabetes medication." It can't be someone else's idea. YOU have to want it! It has to be your thing!

One of the first things I have a new client do is to create their why. I have them set a goal and then write down WHY they want to reach that goal. I ask them to get emotional about it. To think about who is counting on them to be healthy, happy and strong! To remember what it felt like to move freely and how it will feel if they have to watch from the sidelines once again. To think about what will happen if they keep going down the same road as their family members who have suffered due to preventable diseases. To think about what will happen five years from now if they don't make a change.

Tying emotions to your why is what creates the motivation to be unstoppable. When you can picture what your life will look like when you reach your goal, how good you'll feel in your favorite dress you haven't fit in since who knows when, you'll be able to do the work it takes to GET IT DONE!

Do the work today! Write down that goal and list the reasons WHY it is so important to you to reach it. If it makes you get teary, you know you're on the right track!

Now here's a bonus step for you!! Listen to me clearly!

Never use a negative statement after the words I or I am again!!!

No more I can't, I fail, I'm fat, I'm too lazy, I'm not good enough!! Promise me, never again!! Change it to:

I am a goal reacher!
I AM (insert goal weight)!
I eat a healthy, nutritious diet.
I LOVE exercising!
Every day I'm getting better and better.
What I start, I finish.
My strength comes from God.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
I have a fast metabolism that easily releases excess weight.
I move freely and easily!
I can do anything I put my mind to.

Don't worry if it's not the current truth. Your mind has no idea what is real and what is fantasy. You get what you say. So if you don't want to fail, don't say you're a failure. Say what you want to happen and it will happen!

I really hope you put these two tools into practice. I want to see you reach your goals and have the satisfaction that comes with it! I want to help you live your best life! You deserve it!!

God bless!
